Sparker Mejia, Member

As the CEO of Romulus Development, Sparker Mejia has established a strong presence in the Groveland area as an expert in commercial and residential property development and management and as an active participant in beautifying the Highway 120 corridor. Sparker created and produced Groveland's standing "gold-veined" ground planters. Going above and beyond, when Sparker volunteered his time given to renovating the former Baird Hotel site for the Beautification assets, he painstakingly removed the 100-year-plus concrete impressions of "BAIRDS" and created an industrial art sculpture from the historic pieces, preserving the impressions as well as a view of the geological composition of the site's original concrete entry. Check out this blog post of his work on the former Baird Hotel site

Sparker's combination of skills, artistic vision, ability to execute large projects, and the desire to contribute to this community are a major asset to the Grade to Gate Foundation.

My Story

Eric's professional journey was marked by experience across sectors such as Accounting, Logistics, Retail, and Building Automation and he holds certifications as both a CPA (inactive) and an MBA. With a rich and diverse career spanning 35 years Eric brings a wealth of expertise to our Foundation as he embraces a well-deserved retirement phase that allows him to indulge in the simple pleasures of life and dedicate more time to leisure and community-based activities.

Family holds a special place in Eric's heart, as he shares a loving relationship with his wife, Laurie James, and takes pride in his two adult sons. Their home is brightened by the companionship of a cherished 14-year-old dog, Waldo.

When it comes to hobbies, like most Grovelanders, Eric finds joy in the great outdoors, particularly through activities like hiking and biking where he especially appreciates riding with the Groveland Trail Heads. Eric's interests extend beyond outdoor pursuits; he takes pleasure in savoring quality beer and cornering Dutch and German tourists for a conversation in the local grocery store, furthering Groveland's outreach to our foreign visitors.
